So I know a lot of brown girls are intimidated by foundation. I used to be too! I know it may seem like more of a hassle to use foundation but I really believe that it adds to your overall look. Black women are prone to have discolored skin. My eyes and parts of my cheeks are a lot darker than the rest of my face. I use foundation to even out my skin tone.
I've seen a lot of good reviews about Revlon Colorstay Foundation. I got it from Walgreens for about $14 and it is worth every dollar. I've been on the hunt for a foundation that will stay on my face throughout an entire day of work. I looked into many different brands and didn't see the point in paying more than $20 for a foundation that didn't match my color. I found that this brand matched my skin very well. I have very dry skin and this formula is very moisturizing. They do have formulas for oily and combination skin as well.
I apply it with a flat top face brush or a regular foundation brush. I don't like using sponge applicators because they are hard to clean and I think you waste a lot of your product using them. Usually I use a cotton swab to put the product on my face then I buff it on with the brush and set it with a loose powder.
I love this foundation! Don't be afraid to try it!
So I was debating on whether or not to share this with you all but I just have to. This is a picture of me with a freshly washed face (and crazy bed hair) before I put on my makeup:
Scary... I know. I want you to notice the discoloration in my eye area and my cheeks and chin.
Now this is a picture of my look about 15 minutes later.
I think that this face looks ready for the world!

So if a person's face is discolored in parts, why not use like some ambi to help it get better for a permanent fix, instead of a temporary foundation like this colorstay?

I personally don't like the idea of permanently lightening my face. I have used Clinique Even Better Clinical which is a treatment to break up dark patches on your face but from what I understand, products like Ambi lighten all of your face as opposed to just breaking down the darker patches. I also like foundation because your skin tone changes with the season. In the summer I am a couple of shades darker so the foundation allows me to temporarily even my skin tone without any permanent damage. I have also come to realize that makeup is about being able to accentuate and play with different colors and areas of your face just to take it off and start over the next day.
